Got it from the library. I'm glad I didn't pay any money for it….I got it because of a book review by a local bookstore guy/ author who wrote a rave review somewhere. I shouldnt have been taken in: I didnt like his own book particularly, despite its glowing reviews in the Canadian book pages. It was too infatuated with its own plot line. And Zafon’s book suffers from the same, times 10.
It started off promisingly, but the first page was the best of the book. The book was swollen and needlessly complex. And it became too fabulous. Oh really now, come on.
Back to some paid-for books…..they are usually more reliable.
Worst book of the year.
